In our cattery, we feed Purina ONE +Plus Healthy Kitten Formula to both our adults and kittens because it provides complete nutrition for all life stages, and its nutrient-dense formula is ideal for the demanding needs of gestation, lactation, and growth. As a high-protein diet with real chicken as the primary ingredient, it supports the muscle development of growing kittens and provides the extra calories, fats, and nutrients needed by pregnant and nursing mothers.

The formula also includes DHA, a nutrient found in a mother's milk that supports brain and vision development, and four antioxidant sources to help maintain a strong immune system for all our cats.

While this high-calorie food is beneficial for adults that require extra nutrition, such as pregnant or lactating cats, we carefully monitor the portions for our general adult cat population to prevent weight gain.

This single-formula approach simplifies feeding while ensuring all our felines receive the high-quality, veterinarian-recommended nutrition necessary to thrive.

As carnivores, cats are biologically designed to thrive on a diet of fresh, raw prey. This is why our cattery feeds a carefully balanced, high-quality raw food diet to all of our cats and kittens. This approach mirrors their natural diet in the wild and provides optimal nutrition that is minimally processed and packed with moisture.

Our raw feeding program uses commercially prepared, complete, and balanced frozen raw food from reputable companies. These pre-made meals include the correct ratio of muscle meat, organs, and ground bone to provide the essential nutrients that felines need.

We introduce kittens to raw food around four weeks of age, a natural time for them to begin transitioning from their mother's milk to solid food. We feed them multiple small meals throughout the day to support their rapid growth and high energy needs.

Raw food contains natural enzymes and high moisture content, making it easier for cats to digest. This results in better nutrient absorption and, as a bonus, less odor and volume in the litter box.

We take great care to ensure our kittens receive a balanced and digestible diet. We've found that serving Purina Fancy Feast Kitten Classic Pate alone, or in large quantities, can sometimes lead to upset stomachs and loose stool in some kittens. To provide the nutritional benefits of wet food while preventing tummy troubles, we mix a small portion of the pate with their dry kibble and offer this every other day, in addition to their daily diet. The mix is easier on young, developing digestive tracts than a large meal of rich pate alone.

This careful approach allows us to give our kittens the best start in life, combining the benefits of multiple food types while keeping their sensitive tummies happy. Adding a taste of wet pate introduces them to another type of diet, which is especially important as some adult cats who are not exposed to a variety of foods as kittens may refuse them later in life.

By feeding our kittens a combination of dry, raw, and wet food, we help them develop a broader palate and adaptability, making their transition to a new family's chosen diet much smoother.

Since we don't know what diet their future families will choose, this proactive approach sets them up for success by preventing them from becoming picky eaters.

Here in our cattery, we use Purina Proplan FortiFlora Cat Probiotic Supplement as a crucial component of our health and wellness protocol for our kittens. The transition from our cattery to a new home is a significant and sometimes stressful event for a young kitten. Leaving their mother and littermates, coupled with a new environment, can cause their immune system to become stressed and vulnerable. A kitten's immune system is particularly sensitive during this time, and the stress can disrupt the delicate balance of their gut microflora, which can lead to common issues such as diarrhea and general sickness. By regularly supplementing their diet with FortiFlora, we provide a proactive and proven method to help strengthen their digestive tract and overall immune system.

This is why we strongly recommend that new owners continue this supplementation for at least the first few weeks after bringing their kitten home. The continued use of FortiFlora helps maintain the healthy bacterial balance in the kitten’s gut, mitigating the negative effects of the stressful transition. The supplement contains a guaranteed level of live microorganisms that help promote beneficial intestinal microflora, which is key to supporting a kitten's health while they are adjusting to their new surroundings. The palatable powder is also very easy to administer, as it can simply be sprinkled over their regular food, making it a simple step to take for their well-being.

Transitioning to Your Home

Our cats and kittens are accustomed to a free-feeding diet with premium dry kibble always available. This low-stress approach to feeding allows them to graze throughout the day, ensuring they never feel food-insecure.

If you choose to continue this method in your home, your kitten will already be comfortable with the routine. We also provide a sample of their current food to help with a smooth transition.

While many of our kittens enthusiastically continue their raw diet in their new homes, we understand that new families may choose a different feeding path. We encourage a gradual shift over several weeks to avoid digestive upset, blending a new food with the raw meals the kitten is accustomed to. We provide a starter pack of their familiar raw food to help with this transition and are always available to offer guidance for a seamless adjustment.

Pate wet food is highly appealing and a great source of moisture, but it's crucial to practice careful portion control and not rely on it exclusively. Overfeeding, even with wet food, can lead to rapid weight gain, obesity, and related health problems like joint pain and diabetes later in life. We suggest offering measured amounts of wet food as part of a balanced diet that also includes high-quality dry kibble, which provides dental health benefits.

By supplementing one meal a day with FortiFlora, new owners can feel confident that they are doing everything they can to ensure their kitten’s health during a vulnerable period. The supplement helps prevent stress-related digestive issues, allowing the kitten to focus on adapting to their new family and environment. It is a simple yet highly effective way to provide peace of mind and a smooth, healthy transition for your new family member.

Temptations MixUps
Catnip Fever

Our cats adore Temptations MixUps Catnip Fever treats for their irresistible combination of textures and flavors. When they hear the distinctive shake of the large, resealable tub, they come running, eager for the delicious snack. We love that this super-sized container keeps mischievous paws out when we aren't watching, ensuring the treats stay fresh and secure for when we decide it's snack time.

The treats offer a dual-texture experience that cats find particularly enticing. Each piece is satisfyingly crunchy on the outside, providing a dental benefit by helping to scrape away tartar, while the soft, creamy center delivers the flavor cats crave. The MixUps Catnip Fever flavor is a specific favorite, combining chicken, catnip, and cheese into a trifecta of deliciousness that appeals to even the most discerning feline palate.

At under two calories per treat, they are the perfect low-calorie snack or reward to be given daily without guilt. This makes them an excellent tool for training or simply for bonding with our pets by reinforcing positive behavior. While our cats and kittens enjoy these, it is important to remember that Temptations MixUps Catnip Fever are formulated for adult cats. Younger kittens should be given treats specifically designed for their developmental needs until they reach one year of age.

Even though Temptations cat and kitten treats are a delicious and rewarding snack, they are not nutritionally complete and must be given in moderation. Treats should not exceed 10% of a cat's daily caloric intake. Providing your cat with a balanced diet of high-quality cat food ensures they get the essential nutrients—like protein, amino acids, and fats—they need to thrive. Filling up on treats can disrupt this balance and cause several health problems.
